For Nigerian Olajumoke Orisaguna the bread-seller-turned-model, the limelight is not about to dim anytime soon.
On Friday February 12, her fortunes got better as Sujimoto Construction Limited, Nigeria’s foremost Luxury Real Estate Developer offered her accommodation and Scholarship to a Finishing School, Poise Academy Nigeria – where she will be properly equipped with the tools to survive as professional model anywhere in the world.
According to CEO Sujimoto Construction, Sijibomi Ogundele, “Olajumoke’s story is my story. It is the story of my mother who also came to Lagos from Ijebu in search of a better life. Young people should learn from Olajumoke’s experience, that hard work is the bedrock of all success and success only happens when preparation meets opportunity. There are no sustainable shortcuts. And without hardwork, Luck won’t last. How many more Olajumokes are out there whose potential have been swallowed by our ailing economy? This is a grass to grace story of someone whose ”preparation” made her leave her comfort zone in Osun state, in search of a greener pasture ”opportunity”.
Nigeria has a population of about 180 million people with about 70 million of them categorized as youths of working age – within 15 to 35 years. The alarming ratio of unemployed to employed youths is at about 5:1 and Olajumoke Orisaguna represents this group who have had to look for the most basic means of sustenance to keep body and soul together.
While stories like Olajumoke’s abound in Nigeria, not many youths have had such a chance encounter that would help them explore the boundaries of their true potential, as Olajumoke now can.
Sujimoto Construction Limited wants Olajumoke’s story to be a source of inspiration for the hardworking and struggling Nigerian youths.
